Speaker Bio
Nataly Buslón is a Senior Researcher in Responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) at Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) and a member of UNESCO Women for Ethical AI (W4EAI) platform. Her research focuses on the social impact of AI, ethics, algorithmic bias, and equity-driven technology governance.
She holds a PhD and a Master’s in Sociology from the University of Barcelona (Cum Laude) and a Bachelor’s in Sociology from the University of the Republic (Uruguay). She was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), where she studied AI’s impact on health, misinformation, and sex and gender bias in medical research.
Nataly has worked on projects for EU-funded initiatives, UN Women LAC, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Organization of American States (OAS), integrating a gender and human rights perspective into AI governance. She has also been a Visiting Researcher at Columbia University (2016), Stanford University (2022), and Umeå University (2024).
She is also an Ambassador for Women in Data Science (WiDS) Stanford, a member of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) and the <A+> Alliance for Inclusive Algorithms LAC.
