Speaker Bio
Alberto Gago Fernandez is the head of the Office for a Digital Spain 2030 and International Relations at the Secretary of State of Digitalization and AI in Spain and a member of the Presidency Board of European Startup Nations Alliance. Specialised in global and European digital affairs, AI and data economy, he holds a Master’s degree in European Legal Studies from the Université de Lorraine and Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Birmingham. He was a Policy Officer in the Data Policy and Innovation Department of the European Commission until 2020. He has extensive experience in designing and deploying public policies and projects related to AI, digital and data. He is responsible for the definition and deployment of the AI Sandbox and contributed heavily in the last two years in the creation of the statutes of the Agency for the supervision of AI, but also helped creating Gaia-X Hub Spain as well as negotiated the European Tech Champions Initiative.
