Speaker Bio
Eduard Martín is the Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) of Mobile World Capital Barcelona since January 2019, a position from which he leads technological initiatives applied to social innovation and smart connectivity projects developed by the foundation.
Martín is an Engineer in Computer Science and Systems from the UOC, with a diploma in Information Technologies from Cambridge (UCLES) and training in Innovation Management from IESE, he has over 30 years of experience in the ICT sector, both in the public and private spheres. He worked for more than 25 years at the Barcelona City Council, where, among other roles, he served as Director of Innovation and Knowledge Society at the Municipal Institute of Informatics. Later, he worked as Director of Smart Cities and Public Sector Strategy at the consultancy firm Sopra Steria.
Beyond his professional career, Martín has stood out as a key figure in the country's digital transformation. He has been the Dean of the College of Computer Engineering of Catalonia, President of the Association of ICT Professionals of Catalonia, and a professor at various prestigious technological centers and universities. His contributions have earned him multiple recognitions, including the Joan Clarke Award 2024 for Best CIO, the National Award for Digital Innovation 2023, the European Leadership in Smart Connectivity Award 2022, and the Catalonia ICT Professional of the Year 2021.
