Dr. Lara Pijuan MD,PhD.
Pathologist and Doctor of Medicine from UAB (2007). She is currently the Head of the Cytology Unit and a member of the Lung Cancer Functional Unit, the Molecular Tumour Board and the Diffuse Interstitial Pulmonary Diseases Unit at the Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona) since 2021.
She specialises in cytological diagnosis and histopathological studies of cardiopulmonary pathology. Due to her experience in the field of lung tumour pathology, she is co-author of scientific publications related to lung pathology and cytology.
Locally, she is the outgoing president of the Catalan Society of Cytology (SCC) and co-director of 2 cytology courses using digital technologies. Nationally, she is Secretary and member of the International Relations Committee of the Spanish Society of Cytology (SEC) since 2023. She was the coordinator of the Digital Pathology Working Group of the Spanish Society of Pathology (SEAP) from 2019 to 2022. Internationally, she is a member of the Education Subcommittee of the European Society of Pathology (ESP) since 2023. She is also a member of international societies such as the United States & Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP), the International Academy of Cytology (IAC) and the Sociedad Latinoamericana de Citología (SLAC).
