Speaker Bio

Dr. Ishwar Parulkar is the Chief Technologist for the Telecommunications vertical at Amazon Web Services (AWS), driving technology strategy, defining new cloud services, and leading initiatives for next-generation telecom networks. He played a key role in launching AWS Wavelength (mobile edge computing) and advancing AWS infrastructure for virtualized mobile networks, private networks, cloud connectivity, and network management.​


Before joining AWS in 2016, Ishwar was a Distinguished Engineer at Cisco, where he helped build the first LTE networks for tier-1 and tier-2 telecoms globally and contributed to industry-wide initiatives in mobile edge computing and 5G. Earlier, at Sun Microsystems, he led the design of SPARC architecture-based data center computing products, including pioneering multi-core processors and compute virtualization platforms. He began his career at Apple, contributing to the Mac and Newton PDA lines, which laid the groundwork for mobile computing innovations.


Ishwar holds an M.S. from Vanderbilt University and a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California, where he also served on the Industry Advisory Board. A prolific inventor with dozens of patents and over 25 publications in IEEE/ACM journals, he was elected a Foreign Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering in 2017 for his contributions to mobile networks and data center computing.
