Speaker Bio

Barclay is the Chief Executive Officer of DeepGreenX Group Inc, and has been a successful serial entrepreneur, CEO, strategic advisor, and financial markets strategist for over 40 years.


Barclay began his TMT career as a pioneer in the US cellular mobile industry in 1983, cofounding Cellular Communications Inc. and its Cellular One companies in Ohio, Michigan, Puerto Rico, and ultimately Italy as well.  As President, COO, and CFO Barclay developed many industry “firsts” included bundled phone/minute plans, retail store locations, and flat rate nationwide calling and roaming.


After CCI merged with PacTel Airtouch in 1993, Barclay co-founded and became CEO of NTL, Inc, which he grew from a start-up to become Britain’s largest cable TV and broadband Internet company by 2003, and is now Virgin Media, Inc.  Barclay again pioneered several industry firsts, including the world’s first “triple play” of bundled TV, phone, and Internet services.  In 1998 Barclay was named Telecommunications Executive of the Year by the Financial Times.


Barclay is also a Senior Fellow in the Center for Financial Economics, and a Visiting Professor in the Economics Department at The Johns Hopkins University.


Barclay earned a BA in Mathematics from The Johns Hopkins University in 1979, and an MBA with Distinction from Harvard Business School in 1983.
