Speaker Bio
Born in Murcia in 1979, she holds a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Murcia. After four years of research in Molecular Genetics at the University of Murcia and the Institute of Biochemistry in Leipzig (Germany), she earned a postgraduate degree with a final-year thesis, several publications, and a Diploma of Advanced Studies in Fungal Molecular Genetics.
In politics, she served as a Member of Parliament for the Region of Murcia from 2011 to 2019 and was the spokesperson for the Socialist Group in key areas such as technology, science, and innovation. Between 2008 and 2016, she held various positions within the PSOE, notably as Secretary for Science, Participation, and Networks. Additionally, she was a board member of the Center for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) and worked as a Physics and Chemistry teacher in the Region of Murcia.
From October 2022 to September 2024, she served as Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures. In September 2024, she was appointed Secretary of State for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence, where she plays a key role in advancing technology and promoting a fair and human-centered digital transformation in Spain, within the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Service.
