Speaker Bio
Geoff is the Chief Marketing Officer for Rakuten Symphony, the telecom part of the technology leader Rakuten, which operates over 70 businesses disrupting the status quo from retail to banking to telecom. Rakuten Symphony helps other companies do the same as all businesses start to run on technology rather than people.
Throughout his 30-year career in telecom and cloud, Geoff has been a software engineer and led R&D, business development, network rollout, consulting, and marketing and communications teams. Today, he is dedicated to helping telecom understand how to fundamentally shift the way it operates its business to become “techcos” or risk obsolescence.
Geoff began his telecom career at Ericsson, has been embedded in AT&T in support of Silicon Valley innovation initiatives and delivered the world’s first live global mobile sports channel with the Volvo Ocean Race Round the World Race. Prior to joining Rakuten Symphony, Geoff was CMO at MobiledgeX, a Deutsche Telekom-founded startup focused on accelerating mobile edge computing adoption.
A software engineer at his core, Geoff received his First Class Honors Bachelors degree in Computing Science with the Computing Science Prize of Excellence from Aston University in Birmingham, United Kingdom. His earliest career experience with CERN focused on writing accelerator beam control software.
Geoff is based in Dallas in the United States.
