Speaker Bio
Pilar has been a leading voice within the AI industry for more than 25 years: as a research scientist at the Universities of Seville, Edinburgh or Stanford; as an entrepreneur, expanding her AI startup internationally and driving it through a successful exit; and as an executive at companies such as Intel, Amazon, Roku and now Google.
In her current role at Google, Pilar architects moonshots in Conversational AI and works on a range of topics including Building trust with Conversational Agents, API Prediction, Factuality, Responsible AI, AI Regulation, Sustainability and Human Values Alignment.
Pilar’s main areas of expertise range from Generative, Conversational and Responsible AI to Cognitive and Ambient Computing, Human-Computer Interaction, UX, UXR and Language Technologies in general.
Pilar is in the Board of Directors and/or Board of Advisors at several public and private companies, Universities, NGOs, and VCs. In terms of public service, Dr. Manchón is a member of the AI Strategy Advisory Council of the Government of Spain, and also a member of the AI Strategy Advisory Council of the Government of Andalusia.
Pilar holds several patents, published dozens of papers and her contributions to the field of AI, the Latinx Community, Women leadership and Entrepreneurship have been broadly acknowledged in the US, Spain, LATAM and the UN, with multiple awards and recognitions. She is among the top 100 most influential Hispanic leaders in technology in the US, and among top 100 most influential tech leaders in Spain and LATAM. She has also been awarded the title of Beloved Daughter of Seville by her city of birth, and the First Alumni Honorary Award by her alma mater.
