Nia Castelly is a recognized expert at the intersection of law and technology, with decades of experience in IP, privacy, and, most recently, AI trust, safety, and responsible development. As Co-Founder and Head of Legal for Checks, Google’s AI-powered compliance platform, she helps Fortune 500 and multinational companies build safer applications more efficiently. Checks, building on its success simplifying privacy compliance for mobile app developers, has expanded to address the needs of businesses developing and deploying generative AI applications. Leveraging the power of AI, Checks identifies potential risks and provides actionable recommendations, saving companies countless hours and minimizing their risk.
Prior to co-founding Checks, Nia was Senior Counsel for the Google Play store, focusing on mobile app distribution, platform policy, product privacy, and data protection. Nia's influence extends beyond well-established companies, championing and counseling early-stage startups as a founding member of the Black Angel Group and through How Women Invest LP.
