Michael Ackland was appointed Telstra’s Chief Financial Officer in 2022. With responsibility for guiding the company’s strategic and financial performance, he drives long-term value for investors. As the Group Executive for the Strategy & Finance function, Michael leads strategy, internal audit, finance, procurement, , treasury, taxation and investor relations teams. He is also a Director on the Boards of Telstra Health (Chair) and Quantium Telstra.
Michael joined Telstra in 2016 and has held roles across the business including Executive Director of Telstra Country Wide and Executive of Sales and Service. In 2018 he was appointed Group Executive of Consumer & Small Business with responsibility for Telstra’s relationship with millions of customers, thousands of employees, and hundreds or retail stores across Australia.
Prior to Telstra Michael was at GE in roles across financial services, corporate and healthcare divisions, including CEO GE Healthcare - Australia and New Zealand. Prior to GE, Michael worked at the Boston Consulting Group.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from the University of Melbourne.
