Session Description

BCS Group is launching its newly deployed submarine cable inside Lake Tanganyika, reaching a depth of 1,300 meters (five times the previous world record inside Lake Ontario). This session shall detail how the cable is a critical first step in achieving a geographically diverse and low-latency route for Europe-Asia data traffic, mitigating risks associated with current Red Sea infrastructure. We will discuss the unique engineering challenges overcome during the cable's construction in an inland lake environment and its potential to enhance digital access and resilience in the DRC and beyond. Join us to examine this significant development in telecommunications infrastructure.
