Session Description
The MWC Smart Airports Summit will focus on airport innovations such as IoT and analytics, with AI-driven proactive decision making, predictive maintenance systems, and more. This unique Summit will bring together leading speakers from many airports and airlines around the world.
The five-session summit, will cover:
- The Future of Flight: Exploring the Importance of Smart Airports
With an estimated 4.7 billion people expected to access airports this year, is it clear that Airports are pivotal in connecting the world. As sprawling, complex entities, airports function like cities, where safety, security, and operational efficiency must seamlessly integrate across diverse stakeholder groups. A comprehensive connectivity roadmap is crucial in these environments covering landside areas (roadways, parking areas, and curbs), terminal environments (bag drop, screening, concessions, and boarding), and extending to the airfields (ramp, taxiways, runways, and fence line). For this to work, robust and pervasive wireless connectivity is essential and is the backbone of digital transformation in the aviation industry, enabling cutting-edge use cases that enhance operational efficiency, passenger experience, and overall business support through advanced technological integration.
- Revolutionizing Aviation: The Impact of IoT and Digital Transformation
Airports are becoming increasingly data-intensive environments, though they have traditionally been segmented by organizational boundaries. Today, these silos are being dismantled, allowing data to flow freely and enhance operational efficiency and ultimately the guest experience. For C-level executives, understanding the full potential of data integration is crucial. The Internet of Things (IoT) is leveraged in numerous ways, yet several questions arise: What data is currently captured across the ecosystem and what data have airports always desired but never accessed? What does your sensor roadmap entail? With new sensor deployments, what actionable insights can your airport or airline gain? Can you look, analyze, automate, and predict? Furthermore, once data is acquired, how can automation and AI amplify the benefits? Addressing these questions can guide strategic decisions and drive transformative improvements in airport operations and passenger satisfaction.
- Navigating the Skies: Autonomous Systems in Aviation
This session will explore the transformative role of autonomous systems in the aviation industry. We will discuss the importance of autonomous solutions, their current and potential deployments across various airport operations, and the implications for safety, efficiency, and passenger experience. Industry experts will share their insights and experiences with deploying technologies such as autonomous bots, showcasing real-world examples such as surveillance drones for perimeter security, automated jetway positioning systems, robotic baggage handling, and cleaning robots for airport hygiene, The panel will also address questions about the challenges, benefits, and future prospects of these technologies, whilst providing a comprehensive understanding of how autonomous systems are revolutionizing airport operations and enhancing the overall air travel experience.
- Public & Private Network Integration (slice vs. set-asides)
As airports continue to deploy private wireless networks for their operational use cases, there will become a growing need for the private wireless network to interoperate with the public network and even other private wireless networks as planes and devices will “roam” from airport to airport. This convergence is the discussion topic regardless of the spectrum allocations or owners. We will discuss the business and technical options to enable full transparent interoperability/roaming between these wireless networks.
- Smart Airports: Unpacking the Benefits
Come and listen to this dynamic panel on the future of smart airports, where we'll explore the transformative power of private mobile networks for airports and the critical role of service providers in this ecosystem. Airport Industry Executives and Service providers will discuss how digital transformation, powered by robust connectivity solutions, can enhance efficiency, safety, and the passenger experience along side insights into reducing complexity, delivering end-to-end solutions, and moving up the value stack to offer comprehensive, integrated services that unite the diverse components of the aviation ecosystem. Hear from industry leaders and experts as they share strategies, real-world examples, and practical insights, helping you understand and capitalize on the future of smart airports.
