Session Description

Join industry leaders and innovators for an engaging roundtable discussion on the transformative role of NTN in advancing global connectivity. This session will explore the areas related to the interoperability of Terrestrial and Non-Terrestrial. We will look at the evolution of satellite technology, the latest progress in Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) within 3GPP standards, and the emerging opportunities for direct-to-device communication.

The evolution of non-terrestrial networks (NTN) has been a remarkable journey marked by significant advancements and innovations, the shift to using mobile standards like 5G. Communication to devices always existed in the satellite world, but with the rapid increase of low Earth orbit (LEO) constellations enabling faster data transmission, lower latency, and broader coverage areas.

NTN is becoming an integral part of the telecommunication ecosystem, providing support to a variety of applications, including broadband internet, emergency response, and IoT connectivity. As technology continues to advance, NTNs are poised to play an even more pivotal role in bridging geographical coverage, increase resilience to global communication infrastructure.

Stakeholders from across the ecosystem—including satellite operators, mobile network providers, technology developers, and policymakers—will share their plans, progress, and perspectives on how these advancements are reshaping the connectivity landscape. Don't miss this opportunity to be part of the conversation and talk about collaborative opportunities driving this next frontier in communications.

In March 2024, the GSMA launched the NTN Community to facilitate knowledge sharing, raise awareness about both the benefits and challenges, and provide leadership and support for the existing working groups. The GSMA will distribute the latest publications, and we will invite participants to share their opinions. We will seek your feedback and input on topics that can enhance the collaboration between TN and NTN.

The Roundtable is invite only. Register your interest on the link above and we will notify you whether you are confirmed to join.
