Speaker Bio
Oscar Pierre Miquel (Barcelona, 1992) is the CEO and co-founder of Glovo. He began his education in Aerospace Engineering at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and, after two years, completed it at Georgia Tech in the United States.
While studying, Pierre founded Zikkomo.com, a platform for charitable work in Malawi, and later LoveItLocal.es, a website dedicated to promoting local artisanal businesses.
After graduating, he started his professional career as an aerodynamics engineer at Airbus, based in Toulouse. After 6 months, he decided to seek new challenges and in early 2015, he created Glovo.
In 2017, two years after launching Glovo, Oscar was named among the most influential young Europeans by Forbes magazine. At the end of 2019, Glovo became the second Spanish unicorn after closing a €150 million funding round, and in 2021, the company achieved the largest financing round in the history of Spain: €450 million.
Oscar has always been very active in supporting entrepreneurs and occasionally acting as a business angel. Last year, together with Sacha Michaud (Glovo co-founder) and Adam Lasri (ex-Atomico) they founded Yellow, a new €30 million pre-seed fund that wants to invest at the earliest stage possible, focused on Southern Europe — and especially some key markets in the area, such as Spain, Italy and Portugal.
Oscar keeps being focused on being Glovo’s CEO. Yellow is just a way to take his activity as a business angel, one step further.
